The task force, which originally focused on the meat chain, had its agenda expanded in 2023 to cover other commodities, such as soy, cocoa, and coffee, and works towards building a national traceability and transparency policy that could address the complexity of the productive sector’s chains.
This topic has gained prominence in the Coalition due to new demands from the international market. The European Union and countries such as Switzerland and the United Kingdom have approved legislation that restricts the import of products from certain commodity chains that are in some way associated with deforestation.
Beyond setting guidelines and consensus that can lead to a legal framework regulation on traceability and transparency, the TF discusses partnerships to structure a new deforestation-free chain, which implies dialogue and funding.
